Rico Rolls
2025, Cafe
A lively, fast-moving café identity designed for a brand built on flavour, speed and everyday accessibility. We crafted a modern visual system that blends quick recognition with a premium, editorial feel — perfect for wraps, rolls and specialty coffee on the go.
Rico Rolls approached us with a clear ambition: build a brand identity that would cut through Kochi’s increasingly competitive café and quick-service landscape. Their menu focuses on fresh wraps, rolls and premium brews — but their previous branding lacked personality and visibility.
The brief called for an identity that felt quick, youthful and energetic, while still conveying the quality and consistency customers expect from a modern food brand. The system also needed to scale effortlessly across storefront signage, delivery packaging, menu boards and digital touchpoints
We distilled three guiding principles: make assets readable in a glance (clarity), introduce subtle directional motion in shapes and type (motion), and choose colours and photography that make food look irresistible (appetite). To avoid confusion from prior variations, we locked the primary palette and usage rules at the start of the project..
We designed a custom wordmark that reads clearly on narrow wraps and large signs alike. Rounded counters make it approachable; compact letterspacing and a slight forward slant give momentum. For more expressive moments we introduced a mascot/illustration system — a friendly roll character used sparingly to add tone without diluting recognition.
We created a modular packaging system prioritising:
Visibility: bold bands keep the wordmark legible from any angle.
Speed: stackable, stack-first formats for busy service.
Clarity: circular stickers and tab labels for flavour and prep codes.
The patterns and mascot illustrations are used selectively so the core logotype always remains dominant.

#FEF3E4
#EF4523
#000000
Final col our rules: #EF4523 as the primary accent (energetic, appetite-forward). Supporting neutrals: #D3CABD and #FEF3E4 for paper and in-set panels, with #000000 reserved for primary copy contrast. Materials are matte, slightly textured stocks and uncoated papers to keep the food imagery warm and the print tactile.
Photography is clean, editorial and authentic. We prioritised overhead and close-up shots that reproduce well in thumbnails and on social platforms. Colour accuracy is essential — we avoided heavy grading and used the brand palette only for backgrounds and props.
Designed to be memorable in motion, the system performs in quick everyday moments — a commuter's grab, a social snapshot, a delivery handover. The result: strong recognition even when seen for a second.
Operational small-prints — stickers, prep tabs and QR placements — were designed to be legible under pressure. The sticker palette follows the primary accent with clear black or white type for maximum contrast.
Rico Rolls now has a concise, repeatable identity built to scale. The refined logotype, locked palette, modular packaging and photography direction combine to: increase recognition at the point of sale, improve social content performance and support rapid service workflows. The brand is bold where it needs to be, and restrained where detail matters.
